Dom on Twitter

Dom has posted a short album update on musewire - the new twitter page where the band can update you all nice and easily. You can even get the updates sent to your phone - you can get a text off Dom! :D

He says:
“Back in rehearsals working on new songs and ideas. Otherworldly dark disco to 15 minute orchestral monsters… and things in between…Hard to say exactly where it’s heading, but we are very excited by it all. See you someplace soon. Dom.”

Dom on Newsbeat

Dom appeared on Radio 1’s Newsbeat yesterday…

Muse have revealed their new material may be released more ‘organically’ rather than saved up for an album.

The band also explained that the rise of downloading has created “a canvas to do whatever you want”.

Speaking to Radio 1’s Newsbeat, drummer Dom Howard said: “The traditional format of releasing an album on CD is not the most common thing a new music buyer or listener would typically go and get from a shop these days.”

“Not that we’re against the concept of releasing an album in the traditional format at all. It’s just the way the world and technology is evolving, it’s presenting a canvas to do whatever you want and just release music as and when it is ready to release. It can happen much more organically.”

“If we group a bunch of tracks together it’s because they’re meant to be together as a unit.”

Howard denied that Muse would be releasing material in the same manner as Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ free download concept however.

Howard confirmed: “We won’t be doing the same thing as Radiohead, no.”

“Everyone is plucking ideas out of the sky and any band can decide how they release an album. It’s all good, I’m all for it.”

Dom was at the Union Chapel in Islington, London last night, playing at a charity gig put on by Razorlight’s drummer Andy Burrows.

The event which was raising money for the Naomi House children’s hospice in Winchester, featured Jamie Oliver on BBQ duties and Razorlight performing a new song as part of a 4 song set.

Earlier in the evening Burrows played tracks off his solo charity album.

One song, ‘The Colour Of My Dreams’, featured Dom Howard on drums, Fyfe Dangerfield (Guillemots) on keyboards and Tom Smith (Editors) on guitar and vocals.

“I’m just here to play the drums to help out my mate Andy who’s released his solo album – a little collection of songs. It’s all in aid of charity, Naomi House, so he asked me to play drums and he’s got a whole bunch of other mates and other musicians playing so I thought I’d say ‘Yeah sure I’ll play’.”

“Andy is a great guy. He lives down the road from me and we’ve played on the electric drum pads in my house when drunk but never seriously.”

“I only found out two days ago I could do the gig. We only rehearsed for a few hours the day before.”

The drum kit used by Dom Howard and Andy Burrows will be put up for auction to raise money for the childrens hospice.

Whilst at the event, Dom also spoke about the new album…

The brand new MUSE DRUMS website is now up and running to coincide with the 20,000 visitors mark!

I’m launcing it early as I’m expecting to hit the 20,000 mark this weekend but I’m away!

I want to use this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has visited and supported the website over the past year! I also want to say thank you to all the youtube comments I get and the 570 subscribers I now have! :D

This new ‘flashy’ website is much easier to use and much better looking with a cool little gallery installed, a new logo and the ability to search the site and flick through all the old news stories too! It’s also a lot easier for ME to update the website and keep it up-to-date! But most importantly it still holds all the relevant information and media you need!

There may be a few glitches throughout the website as you’d expect, so if you do find anything weird then please let me know and I’ll try and sort it out. (musedrums@gmail.com)

So yeah! The last website was updated to coincide with the 2,000 visitor mark…This site is being launched on the 20,000 visitor mark…. So here’s to the 200,000 visitor mark ‘eh! :D

Cheers guys! I’ll be uploading the New Born tab pretty soon!

Enjoy!

Adam :)

Dom is in this weeks NME magazine.

It reads:

DO YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME?

Your first gig: it’s a right of passage. And in retrospect, often embarrassing. Here the great and good of rock’n'roll remember their first time, taking in everything from Ned’s Atomic Dustbin to Bon Jovi to Super Furry Animals, to, um, Gary Glitter

Dominic Howard, Muse

“Ned’s Atomic Dustbin was my first gig - 1992 Exeter Great Hall. I fainted! We were little 12-year-old kids, little weaklings, and we thought, ‘Let’s bowl down to the front,’ and went to the mosh without realising there’d be a load of 18-year-olds jumping around. They just pummeled us. I got completely crushed and lost it. I breathed in someone else’s BO and fainted. My mate pulled me out of the crowd and when i came round we went to the back again. One of our parent’s picked us up at the end of the show and we were all excited on the back seat of the car.”

I’ve updated the Assassin tab - basically changed the ending to swiss triplets and got rid of some empty lines. You can see the tab on the tabs page or print the tab by registering and posting on the message board.

Uni work is pretty much done now for this year, so expect the New Born tab up in *hopefully* a week or so!

Then when I’m back home I hope to be uploading a few more videos. Got any suggestions? Let me know in the comments below! You don’t need to be a member to post comments! :D
